Made in Kind
You wake up in a robot body. Humans have been gone for a long, long time, and the world is kept turning by AIs. One of them, a giant god of a stag with antlers made of light, finds you, hides you from the others, and becomes your best friend. Now the two of you have to save the world, this time from the AIs, who are slowly falling into humanity’s worst old habits.

A human in a world without humans
Have you ever wondered what Earth would look like if humans left and the machines stayed? Not a wasteland. A garden! The AIs in Made in Kind think organic life is beautiful: the rot, the deer, the 500-year-old tree. They tried to build something as beautiful and never quite could. So the whole game is solarpunk: white ceramic, green copper, stained glass and sunlight everywhere, with nature as the hero.
And then there’s you. A human mind, in a body that isn’t yours, in a world that decided it was better off without you. No pressure.
Many ways through
It’s an immersive sim, like Deus Ex, Dishonored or Prey, so every problem has more than one answer. And there’s a twist in how you get stronger:
- Greed pays. Upgrades come from salvage, and the easy salvage hurts something alive. Greedy players get stronger, careful players get weaker.
- Your choices matter. How you play changes how it ends. Yes, multiple endings!
- Your arms grow with you. You’re a “Caretaker” bot: white ceramic, copper and a stained-glass solar leaf, and it upgrades over time.
Combat that moves
I wanted the fights to feel fast and wild, ULTRAKILL fast. Wall jumping, a punchy palm shot, machines coming at you from every side. But you never have to be the bad guy. There are different ways to end a fight, so you can play it your way. My first playtest of the combat arena? I had a GREAT time, and the wall jumping is my favourite part.
Where it is now
Made in Kind is in development, and there’s no release date yet. You can already play from New Game: the opening, a walk through the Old Forest, the Solar City with its friendly maintenance bots, the Cradle (your home base), and the first mission. Some of it is still grey boxes, and the opening is already voiced. I recorded the AI’s lines myself!
Screenshots are coming soon. I’ll post progress in the dev log as it comes together!
